The one where the wedding is next month...

Hello!!!

It is a bit embarrassing that I went MIA for almost a month considering I am less busy especially when I forgo 2 examinations. Baobei and I finally caught up with the Running Man fever, and we have been watching non-stop since. So I kind of breathe and sleep Running Man all day, err day. I have not been much of a bridezilla but we have been doing lots of errands and there were some changes in our card designs and favours (berkat). Tomorrow is my last day of tuition, which means I am free for the whole month, shake leg and wait for the wedding to happen. I'm just kidding, there's a lot of shit. Just last night I told myself I should stop procrastinating and get things done, like blogging. Even so, I had to finish my episode 113 before I replied comments and this entry (pls feel free to write anonymous comments but remember this blog is my home. If you have already come uninvited, at least be nice. But no worries even if you choose not to).

Here are the list of things you can expect for the next few days which I kindda have vowed to make up for the lack of entries in November by blogging every day:
  • Clarisonic review with MUF haul
  • The 30 days beauty regime of a BTB (tiny tea, aurawhite, avène, exercise)
  • Mrs Jeffrey Campbell (wedding shoes)
  • Summons to be out (Adam Hawa Kreatif)
  • I will sleep with my best friend (bed)
  • The upcoming generation of the Makciks KPO (for the ones I tak fabbret)
  • Sambal Goreng Pengantin oi (Gurame food tasting)
  • Why 1/2 of Apkim is worth going to (kursus rumah tangga)
  • The unexpected house (HDB application)
  • MPKGirlBoss (the new 5 year plan)
  • Bride's beauty checklist (eyebrow, brazillian waxing, arm waxing, segala gala lah waxing, hair)
  • 8 Days 7 Nights with my soon to be husband (honeymoon)

They will not be in order, of course. Ikut mood of the day I decide to blog about what. Each entries will be out at 12pm every day, unless stated otherwise for the next 30 days. I am starting to bring my pink camera wherever I go and take pictures with that instead of my iPhone 5. Maklumlah, have not upgrade to iPhone 6 yet. Baobei changed his mind and now also wants one too. Those will be after our wedding and hopefully before we fly off for honeymoon.

So in 31 days, it will be the wedding month! When people say that there's a lot of things to be done, trust them. I am freaking out because we have not painted our room in Jurong home, have not packed my things to put there and have not made space for Baobei to bring his things over. It is going to be crazy! Thankfully I am on holidays and Baobei is on course for awhile before he goes on leave (this boy over ah, not working until wedding).

We actually wanted to have a 'pantang period' but looks like we may not have that luxury. After all, our last fitting with TWB is just days before the wedding. We can only collect our rings and the favours like end of December which means rush rush rush.

I think I will miss all of these when the wedding is over. But I kindda looking forward to the honeymoon too. Apart from all the sex (yes, I am allowed to have sex and encouraged to have sex. And even if you don't say it, you're thinking about it with all the #dahalal & hornymoon shit so don't be all innocent), I am travelling to new places with my husband who is my number 1 best friend.

Okay, see you tomorrow at 12pm for our virtual date.

PS: I have already edited 'THEKIREKATTWEDS' page. You're welcome.

The one where I love myself...

Lately, I have been avoiding the wedding countdown app on my phone because I have this habit of opening every few days, and it feels really, really slow. So now, I open once a week and it feels amazingly fast. Haha psychology hancur! Further more, I have been meeting my bridesmaids, one by one, over the week while having our little catch up sessions, making me feel more excited because they keep asking me about my preps and how they can help. I am actually contemplating to DIY my wedding invites, HAHA see how lah hor. 150 odd cards!

Anyway, it looks like I have come a long way. Not we okay, I. When I was 14, I never dreamed about getting married. Along the way, I envisioned about getting married at 24, have my first kid at 26, close factory at 30 after my 3rd kid. That has always been at the back of my head, and +- 3 months, it will come true. Well, the first part of the whole dream. In Shaa Allah.

I was different. I grew up, a little chubby on the thighs and a little darker than the 'ideal' shade. I took things very hard, so when I got into heart breaks, it was not easy for me to deal with. I didn't grow up being close to my family because I distant myself, so it always felt that the world is on my shoulders. I used to cut myself. I started at 14 and only stopped at 21. I had this disgusting habit of eating disorder because I wasn't skinny enough at 15, that Mama threatened to take me to the hospital if I didn't eat, after fasting for 3 days with just water. I don't have the perfect skin. My face often had quite a breakout and leave with marks, even if I left them alone. My back (still) has acne and scares of old ones because I am allergic to my sweat and sea water.

But one day, I stopped pushing myself to the edge and stopped thinking about 2 hoots what people think of me. I am proud of my scars and have never made an effort to hide them. I wear sleeveless tops even though my back can be quite ugly on some days. But you know what? I learnt that if you love everything about you, there is nothing that people can use against you. There's no one in this world can make me feel ugly because of whatever society deems to be ugly. No such thing lah. I have always been straight forward about my story because if you're going to judge me, do it at first impression. I don't have time for second or third round of judging that is going to make you change your opinion of me.

I remember when I told Baobei about the horrible things that happened to me when I was growing up, and honestly I was not afraid if whatever he thought of me changed, because this is something that is not going to change down the lane. Instead, he hugged me and said "You're the best person in the world."

I remember the first time he tried to tell me that he had feelings for me. It was back in 2012 and he was in Batam with his colleagues. It was at night when he what'sapped me and said that he has something to tell me. Fast forward, we were in the MBS Infinity Pool, looking at the skyline and I asked him to tell me (again, because I was impatient and demanded him to say it via whatsapp haha tak sabar betul eh).

My colleague got us girls at night when we were at the club, and I told him no and went back to the hotel room with another colleague. That was when I knew I had feelings for you.

Truth to be told, Baobei has never asked me to be his girlfriend or proposed. Actually on one of those days I did ask him (angrily hahaha) why he never propose to me, and he said "I said I am not going anywhere what. That means I want to marry you." Ye lah Baobei, boleh lah. Anyway we went from getting to know each other via IG, to his parents asking for my hand in marriage to engagement and now, just waiting to be husband and wife. I am just glad we never went through the "BTO then to proposing," which I don't have an issue but it defeats the purpose. And we will have only ONE anniversary to celebrate (engagement was not a date chosen by us haha so tak nak. Plus by the time our first anniversary as fiancé and fianceè, we will be married by then).

9 months of knowing each other (on and off), dated and stayed together for 14 months, and engaged for 8 months and counting before tying the know in January 2015. That is definitely an achievement for the both of us, and we are planning to stay that way.

What I learnt that is important in the world is love myself first before falling in love with another human being. I learnt to respect myself for letting go of the things I can't change (yes, have some self respect!), and falling in love with the wrong people. Baobei used to say "I wish we met earlier so we would have more time together. But it's okay, forever is a long time." That's right, baby. Anyway if you would have met me earlier, you wouldn't know what is it you DON'T want in life.

So a note to myself; if you love everything about you and your partner, there's nothing in this world that someone can make you feel crappy about it. You can throw anything in my direction that is about me or my partner, and there's nothing that is going to make me love less. So once you have come that long way, those small little things in the past can't get to you. You know the famous pinterest saying

So there you go.  Absolute powerless.

You think my back is ugly? Stop looking at it.
I am childish for cutting for myself? It is done and over. I moved on, so please do too.
I am fat? It won't kill me to be on the plus size.
I am ugly? I own a mirror, and it says otherwise to me. Then again, to each of their own.

I love myself most, but I love Baobei more for showing me that I am capable of much, much more love.

Anyway, more wedding updates soon because I have a couple of things to share with all of you! Especially after we spend close to 2 hours designing our rings. Honeymoon updates when I have more (after all I don't think I have mentioned where I will be going).

Eid Ul Adha Al Mubarak, to all.
(Sorry, I just copy + paste Baobei's caption haha)

I will be back with more.
Love me or hate me, I will see you soon.

The one where I lost track of time...

Woah, it has been such a long time since I did a proper update since the blog trended. I kind of lost track of time with my busy schedule and the little things that have planned for the month of August. The highlight has got to be Baobei's surprise 24th birthday. It was nice to get his bestfriends and my bestfriend for a wavehouse session (I am surprisingly good haha!) and blindfolding him halfway in Sentosa where I had booked a room at Amara Sanctuary for us. This is on top of the advanced birthday gift I got him, which is Sony Z2, in May. I told him, in return I want iPhone 6. HAHA! Well, last one a single boy and as someone's (me) fiance, that's good enough.

We had 2 jalan raya, one with my group of friends (LIFO) while the other was with his friends (Tees). Even when we jalan raya with his friends, we prepared a surprise cake for him and Amzar (planned by ABst and I). So restless with the secret group chats. The only difference was with Tees, we went the Amped Park to celebrate Am's advanced birthday after all the kecoh houses since everyone was there. Enough surprises lah, two years back to back. Hahah. But the smile on his face, I will do it over and over again.

Oh, this happened too

So yes, we finally came around to register our intended nikah date. Initially I kept having problems with the website that Baobei went down to ROMM to do it, only to realize my uncle (my saksi) gave the wrong IC number. Poor baby had to go there, and being all nervous about choosing the Tok Kadi. HAHAH. But I am slowly getting all excited about our wedding (again). HAHAH.

Met 2 of my darling bridesmaids the other night, Izza and Ally, and they started planning out my hen-cum-bachelorette-cum-henna night all in one. The plan for now is to book a suite, have a mobile spa to come over for massage and classic manicure and pedicure (especially for those who are not doing inai) and henna at night, and after all the kecoh, go out for my bachelorette night. Only with these two, do we have crazy ideas.

And since, Baobei and I are banned from travelling until our wedding day, more and more staycation for us. We are only going to kick start our wedding plans in October, means more trips to JB.

So anyway,

SEPTEMBER IS COMING SOON, SO IT ONLY MEANS FOUR MONTHS TO GO!

The one where I go on a small hiatus...

Well, at least I got to spend the whole day of Saturday with him up until 4am, and having sahur with my extended family. This is our second (technically third if we count 2012, haha) raya together, only this year is a bit more special since we are engaged!

Lots of jalan raya with my family, his family (Ibu-Baobei just extended the invite, heh), my friends (LIFO) and his friends. I can foresee this being a yearly occurrence, which I don't mind. Oh, this year we have also decided to give duit raya together. Meaning a green packet received is from the both of us.

Anyway, an advanced Hari Raya to all my Muslim friends out there who reads me and forgive me for my short comings. In Shaa Allah, we will meet Ramadan again and I will be married by then! So that will be very fun indeed.

Alhamdulilah for everything thus far.

Okay, I am off to prepare the nutella roll from my future in-laws.

The one where the week unfolds...

After the last entry about the 5YearPlan, these two girls gave me their 'support/blessings' which made the whole excitement-anxiety about it, better. One is Fiqah who I met through social media (and linked in all kinds available) andd we have instant "chemistry", while the other is my sweetheart Sheril aka one of my bridesmaids. I have not been able to talk about anything else apart from 5YearPlan. OBST is not making things better, instead he is researching with us. The mad love and support we get, so blessed!

So moving on, had an iftar session with my fabbret online girls.

We had Siam Kitchen for iftar, and so glad we finally meet up! I usually end the night with my heart so light and so much love. This one isn't any different. It was almost 1030pm and we were still at Mac Cafe, talking about everything under the sun. Heh. It is so nice to know strangers who become part of your lives. And so happy how each of them are coping, since 3 of us are BTBs while one more... well let's say very happy. Truly blessed for this bunch!

Saturday was about the staycay for babygirl's 24th! Again took "off" for the second half of my Saturday to spend some lovin' time with the birthday girl and the sayang. Hahah, okay Izza and Ally. Both also my bridesmaids. Anyway, we picked Amara for their "infinity pool" but the best part was trying to inflate this baby:

PRETZEL FLOAT!
Izza got it while she was in States, and blowing it was not even funny okay. Hahah, we took turns but ultimately Ally was doing all the work! We spend the whole afternoon there until it was time for us to get ready for dinner at Ivy.

With the girls who stole my heart back in Primary 1. HAHAHA.

Okay food at Ivy sucked. It was mad expensive (almost $50 for main course) and the portion didn't match the price. The lighting sucks, thus no pictures. So anyway, I wouldn't go back there despite the service recovery when we complained about the food. Either French food is not my thing, or this is not French. Je m'appelle Renny hahaha.

Too many failed shots, but this is my fabbret still.

Happy 42nd dear baby Izza!

So Sunday checked out, Baobei fetched me back to Serangoon home. We pretty much feel asleep before our day trip to JB. To find Baobei's songkok and cappal. This year he has no baju with his family but one with me!!! Total we have 2 baju together already.  But of course, we had a big iftar before.

We had like 4-5 more stuffs that came much later, but yay! Sushi again after our first one. Back in 2013, on the very first date (not included 2012 hahah) we had Sakae Sushi. It was one of the best dates ever (okay to be fair, I love dates with him, so ummm Baobei? Don't stop bringing me out on dates even though we become parents of 10. We have OBST to jaga our kids hahah), because we watched movie afterwards and I gave him a kiss on the cheek! Then I drew on his hand with my liquid eyeliner while he was smoking with the other hand. He told me that Ibu-Baobei checked his hand the next day to see if the picture on my IG matches her son's hand.

and of course it did.

They say from the day you decide to nikah up til your nikah day, it will not be easy, and it has not been easy but I have a man who loves and assures me so much, and family and friends who never stop giving their blessings! So thank you!!!

Baobei's birthday is coming up, so I am looking forward to that!!! Second birthday with him! Hehe only this year no surprise party but we can do late surprise during our honeymoon okay? (inserts smug face).

LOVE VIBES PEOPLE!

An open letter to NR...

Dear NR,

I don't where to start but probably the easiest thing to say is "I miss you". I am lying if I say I don't miss you at all. Sometimes I find myself being happy about something or excited about something that is going to happen, and wonder how different it will be if you were still around. Yes, I agree that the friendship turned sour and probably there's nothing left to salvage in the end. We were both the same kind of person; stubborn and egoistical. But I know I will always tell you to stop being so damn stubborn and egoistical, and apologise when it is due.
The last of our conversation was about money. And what left so deep in me was you saying that money is something that you can always find, but our friendship is something you can never find. I replied you but I don't know if you got it because I didn't get a reply from you after that.
You know how I am. When I am angry at you, I tend to cut all ties with you. But you were one of my best friends. You're the only person I know that will come over to my house even when I am not at home, and spend time with Mama. That's how close we were. (Though your mother has never liked me.)
I just want to say I miss you and our friendship. You knew about the situation with Syahrul and the only one who encouraged me to open my heart to me when I was scared. Thanks to your push, we are on the way to get married. And you planned to be the most important person at my wedding, but where are you now? (Anyway, that was my last text to you saying that the person who encouraged this relationship is not even going to be at my engagement and my wedding.)
All I know is you're overseas, studying. Good for you! You finally found your path of what you want to do. And I hope the heart is full of nothing but love. I don't know how I would feel when I am getting married or have kids, or buy a house but I know those moments will be so much different if you are around.
No one at home dares to ask me about you after we broke off ties. Mainly they know me too well about how much I sayang my friends. You were the top few despite our fallouts. I never knew this fallout will be the final one.
By the way, I think I saw you last year at Geylang. Needless to say I was too proud to approach you or give you a hug. I should have done it anyway.
Please be safe always, and I hope you still think of me.

xo,
RR

The one with rings and friends since 2007...

The wedding plans are supposed to be on hold until October because we are both insanely busy, but something came and my schedule just lighten by a bit. Though this means our finances are tighter... but even after the wedding + honeymoon expenses, it is still manageable. Plus more time from now til September means more time to start studying for school (though exams are in November).

So anyway, yesterday was iftar with the poly mates. Baobei joined after he was done with his thing, so I decided to drag Ean to survey rings. So where's the best place to get customized bands at a reasonable price?

Located at Delfi Orchard #03-03.

Probably like stepping inside a fairy tale room because just look at it! So white and pretty. I met the owner, Sandra, who was nice both on the phone as well as in person. I came in with an empty mind because I just wanted to see what Fairy's Inc offers. We have already went to Cartier as well as Tiffany's but this is a private jeweler.

Sandra is a type of person who can explain a million and one things, but it doesn't matter because she can zoom in to what you need to know provided you share with her what your dream wedding ring looks like! So yes, the selling point of Fairy's Inc as compared to big companies is one of a kind ring. You design your own ring, and you will have the only one in this world (unless someone steals it). But she doesn't make the same design twice. Awesome isn't it?

Sandra then showed me some of her customers rings that are ready for pick up and she says that by next week, she would have new ones up for the next batch of customers. I like how honest she is, and how she is not pushy about the rings. Platinum is expensive in every jeweler shop. Sandra suggested that is to customize Baobei's ring is expensive, I should get it at the big companies that mass produce so it would be cheaper. I mean who does that? Every greedy person will try to persuade you to buy from them, but she is not.

But one thing for sure that I know about what kind of ring I want;
Princess Cut
Not because I am a princess (haha) but because I like it to be very rigid and structural (read: square). Sandra says I should research on Pintrest and says we can tweak it to be even more beautiful. So ring homework starts now. Furthermore when she went on about the diamonds and different materials, I was lost! No idea such things can be so tedious. I just know it's a diamond on a ring but there's so much about it!

So iftar was at Ayam Penyet Ria and desserts at Marche.

(Thank you B for accompanying me to look see at rings even though you were more interested in the mirror and your OOTD. Love you nonetheless.)

(I don't know if you can tell but Baobei's eyes are closed! Very small this one. Asian, he says. Haha, let's hope our kids have my eyes lah. A bit bigger!)

My OH OH TEE DEE

My very handsome Baobei's OH OH TEE DEE.

All in all, I like Ramadan because we get to sit down and have dinner. Baobei gets a chance to meet and know more about my friends that are forever going to stay in my life. I know I keep saying that I am very blessed to have Baobei in my life, but I really am. I can't believe at 24 (well technically knew him at 22, dated at 23 and marrying at 24), I have found someone I am going to spend the rest of my life with. Through the good and not so good, the skinny and fat, til we are in Jannah together.

That's my du'a this year.

June 29, 2014

The one where there's just too many happening at once & cèlfies...

Do you know how troublesome it is to take such a perfect cèlfie?

First there is the "I-tie-up-my-annoying-hair-while-I-didnt-notice-my-top-is-crumpled"

Then there's the realisation "hair-up-makes-my-face-round-so-lets-go-but-the-top-still"

Then it hit me the "your-top-RR"

(Yah, I am happy how long my hair is now!)

So dah, I just wanted to post my many célfies because I only posted one on my IG. But yeah, the effort for just one perfect selfie but Baobei got everything lah hor. Even the smelly ones I give him. I was just having a good hair day (actually awhile lah because after that, it was no longer the well behaved hair but a mane when I was out) and I put on falshies!

I slept pretty late last night and I only have one person to blame: Baobei.

Okay the reason being is that I was on TWB's IG and I saw the latest baju of theirs!

Then I was showing Baobei the red with grey baju from their latest collection and I told him that it looks really gorgeous, then here's what my darling said to me" You know, we can take another baju from them since we are doing a post photoshoot the next day." Before I can jump for joy because you all know right how I want to wear all of Katt's baju, Baobei has one condition:

We must not spend so much time changing to outfits as our event is 5 hours and meant for close family members and friends only. So we must mingle with our guests and not disappear.

Which of course makes sense lah. So then he said we need to plan a proper wedding itinerary with timing to make sure we have time for 3 baju total (nikah, outfit 1 and outfit 2). If the time is too short, then we will only be taking one baju from TWB as planned originally.  (Which reminds me why I need to blog about Gurame.)

Then Baobei went to sleep, and I was on my inspiration board on Pintrest. Hehe, and got so excited. But haven't dream of a wedding with 3 bajus yet lah, which I know it is a matter of time I am dreaming of our wedding again haha!

So our next 2 major appointments will be in November, which I am super psyched for! June is already coming to an end, which means Hello Term 3. I am already looking forward to Youth Day school holiday (hehe).

Anyway to my Muslim friends, Ramadan Mubarak. May we find the inner peace and be blessed with everything good Allah has to offer us. May we find our happiness and not be obsessed with other people's happiness because Allah itu adil. I know I always pray for people to forget my happiness and be blessed with the same kind of happiness I get.

This year's bulan Ramadan as a fiancé and fiancée, and I pray that we will be better people for each other. In Shaa Allah, amin.
